The Power of Natural Personal Care
1. Natural Deodorant Alternatives
Many people have found that Magnesium Spray is a powerful natural alternative to conventional deodorants. Magnesium is known to have antimicrobial properties, which means it can help to reduce the growth of odor-causing bacteria on the skin.
Using lime or lemon as deodorant is another healthy form of under arm odor control. They contain citric acid, which helps to kill odor-causing bacteria. Simply cut a lime in half and apply it to your underarms or squeeze the juice into a reusable roller bottle to use and refrigerate after. Not only is lime effective at keeping body odor at bay, but it's also an affordable and very eco-friendly option.
We provide these two options because it's important to remember that everyone's body chemistry is different, and what works for one may not work for another. Some may experience sensitivity to lemon or lime juice, which is why we rank Magnesium Oil first. Additionally, sweating is a natural and important bodily function. Magnesium Spray or lemon/ lime juice do not prevent sweating. If you're considering using either as a deodorant, it's a good idea to do a patch test first to ensure you don't have any adverse reactions.
2. Natural Body and Face Wash
Castile soap is a natural soap made from vegetable oils, such as olive oil and jojoba oil, and is gentle on the skin. You can easily make your own body wash by mixing Castile soap with water and your favorite essential oils to reflect whatever scent you want.
Most facial cleansers contain harsh chemicals that can strip the skin of its natural oils. Instead, look for simple ingredient face washes at your local health food store, or make your own, with honey and coconut oil. Honey is naturally antibacterial and moisturizing, while coconut oil is nourishing and helps to remove dirt and impurities.
The harsh and toxic environmental conditions of our modern world are tough on skin. That's why we created our Ancient Beauty Zeolite Soap. Crafted with the highest quality organic and natural nourishing plant based oils, aloe vera, essential oils, and the powerful detoxification abilities of zeolite allows this soap effectively cleanses without stripping moisture from skin.

Some examples of natural makeup ingredients include cocoa powder for bronzer, beetroot or hibiscus powder for blush, and arrowroot powder for setting powder. Many of these ingredients are also very beneficial to the skin. Hibiscus powder encourages a fresher, younger, smoother looking complexionhelp soothe and calm irritated skin. 4. Apple Cider Vinegar Benefits for Body and Hair
Apple cider vinegar is a natural antibacterial and antifungal agent, making it an effective solution for skin and scalp issues. Dilute apple cider vinegar with water and use it as a toner for the face or as a rinse for the hair to help balance pH levels of the skin and remove buildup.
5. Natural Fragrance
Most perfumes on the market today contain a mixture of natural and synthetic ingredients to create a specific scent. Synthetic fragrance molecules are often used to enhance the scent and create a longer-lasting smell. These synthetic ingredients can be made from a wide range of chemicals, including petrochemicals, and may have potential health risks. There are many healthy, natural, and beautiful smelling alternatives. Your local health food store or new age shop might have a wide array of alternative perfumes. You can also find essential oils in many shops and they work great as perfumes.
6. Swap Toxic Plastic Shower Liners for Cotton
Not many people know this but plastic shower curtain liners are extremely toxic and most even have a warning not to use around hot water! When showering, the hot water and steam react with the plastic making it release harmful chemicals into the air, and it goes without saying that they are not eco-friendly. Cotton or even polyester shower curtain liners are a better option, as they are made from natural materials and can be washed and reused!
Ingredients to Avoid in Personal Care Items
It's important to be aware of the ingredients in our personal care items and to avoid those that can be harmful to our health. Some examples include parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, and synthetic fragrances. When you see the word “fragrance” in an ingredients list this usually a cover up for harmful synthetic fragrances. Opt for products that use only natural and organic ingredients that you recognize or make your own using simple ingredients like those listed above.
Using natural and simple ingredient personal hygiene options can benefit our health and the environment so much. By making small changes to our personal care routines, we can make a big impact on our overall well-being.
